DAYDREAMING

Henrik Potter

10.3. - 28.4.2019

Opening: 10.3.2019

For his solo show 'Daydreaming' Henrik Potter exhibits a series of small scale oil paintings on wood. Not primarily a painter, Potter embraces the medium and format as a form of momentaneous poetic reflection.

Produced over the last five months whilst finishing a large commission for the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, these paintings work like quick notes in a similar way we post and repost images online, continuously mapping out our thoughts and interior landscapes. Most of the paintings in fact are copies or ‘quotations’ of other artist’s works, which Potter approaches as mnemonic containers for feelings and passing ideas on aesthetics, value and politics.

English/Swedish artist Henrik Potter lives and works in London. Selected exhibitions include Landlords are not currently collecting rent in self-love, Cell Project Space, London, 2016; Oh, of course, you were berry picking, DREI, Cologne, 2015 and Down Where Changed, Cubitt, London, 2014 and PdT at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2014.
